Extended Validation of the Korean Version of the Quality of Life Survey

In this study, we examined the factor structure and reliability of the Korean Quality of Life (KQoL) survey and compared the KQoL survey to both the World Health Organization Quality of Life-Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). We also assessed associations between KQoL scores and physical activity (PA) participation. Participants were 557 (male = 281, female = 276) healthy Korean adults with ages between 18 and 71 years (M = 33.2, SD = 14.2). Results of confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the 7-subscale model and indicated acceptable values supporting convergent validity (χ² = 1,678.758, df = 443, p < .001, RMSR = .045, RMSEA = .071, TLI = .880, CFI = .892). Correlations of KQoL subscales with similar subscales of WHOQOL-BREF and with SWLS supported concurrent validity. Results confirm that the KQoL survey can assess multidimensional aspects of quality of life (QoL), including spiritual, physical, social, and psychological. KQoL scores were positively related to PA participation, in line with previous research supporting the positive association of PA with QoL.  相似文献   

‘Teaching’ the path towards university: understanding student access through storied-futures and meritocratic grand narratives

The notion that the stories of our lives shape dispositions towards imagined futures is another lens through which university underrepresentation should be viewed. A storied lens attends to how futures, like university attendance, are storied during childhood to the extent that some youth imagine, and therefore plan, these futures as natural progression. Such was the case for study participants, indicating that childhood stories contain answers for mitigating social reproduction connected to parental education and cultural forces within the home. Examining social mobility through the underexplored storied-futures grand narrative presents unique solutions that lay hidden within the dominant meritocratic grand narrative.  相似文献

This study aimed to investigate if moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and aerobic fitness are associated with cardiovascular risk factors in HIV+ children and adolescents. Sixty-five children and adolescents (8 to 15 years) provided minutes of MVPA measured by accelerometers and peak oxygen uptake (peak VO₂) by breath-by-breath respiratory exchange. Cardiovascular risk factors were characterized by body fat, blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL-c, LDL-c, triglycerides, glucose, insulin, C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and carotid intima-media thickness. Results indicated that higher MVPA was associated with lower values of total (β = ?3.566) and trunk body fat (β = ?3.495), total cholesterol (β = ?0.112) and LDL-c (β = ?0.830). Likewise, higher peak VO₂ was associated with lower total (β = ?0.629) and trunk body fat values (β = ?0.592) and levels of CRP (β = ?0.059). The physically active participants had lower total cholesterol (?24.4 mg.dL^?1) and LDL-c (?20.1 mg.dL^?1) compared to participants judged to be insufficiently active. Moreover, participants with satisfactory peak VO? showed lower total (?4.1%) and trunk (?4.3%) body fat, CRP (?2.3 mg.L^?1), IL-6 (?2.4 pg.mL^?1) and TNF-α (?1.0 pg.mL^?1) compared to low peak VO₂ peers. High levels of MVPA and aerobic fitness may prevent developing of cardiovascular risk factors in children and adolescents HIV+.  相似文献   

大健康视野下老年功能性力量评估——以武汉市老年太极人群为例

采用文献法、测试法、数理统计等方法，以武汉市十三个行政区内528名以太极拳为主要体育健身方式的老年人为样本，以马步蹲起、弓箭步蹲起、肘撑侧桥、肘撑侧桥举腿等与日常生活活动相关联的四个基础动作为测试内容。研究表明，受试人群普遍存在下肢与躯干的功能性力量不足、左右侧肌肉链力量不均衡的问题。虽然样本人群经常进行以太极拳为主要形式的体育锻炼，但在锻炼过程中侧重于套路技能的演练，对功能性力量训练的认识不足及缺乏相应的训练方法，存在科学性盲区，需要引起重视。  相似文献

武术与民族传统体育学作为一门学科尚显稚嫩,其突出表现是学科知识缺乏独立性。综合运用文献资料、归纳演绎、比较分析等研究方法,沿着目标→困境→出路的逻辑线路,对武术与民族传统体育学学科建设问题展开深入探讨。主要观点:1)特色鲜明乃武术与民族传统体育学学科建设的目标,该目标达成所倚赖之原动力是实践内容的相对独立;2)边界模糊是阻碍武术与民族传统体育学学科建设保持特色鲜明、走向成熟的重要理论致因;3)反求诸己是武术与民族传统体育学学科建设打破边界模糊困境、实现特色鲜明目标的出路。如此,武术与民族传统体育学方能因获得独立性而有成长壮大之可能,才有希望摆脱学科依附阴影,乃至问鼎显学的地位。  相似文献

Abstract

In 2016, J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte opened a reservable study room where student parents and caregivers can study with their children on campus. In 2018, the library opened a second family-friendly study room to meet the needs of our growing campus community. To inform the room design, the library conducted a mixed methods research study that included a user survey, an examination of room reservation and usage data, and one-on-one user interviews.
